天涯海角APP

Three-dimensional sculptures by Visiting Professor William Accorsi, a 天涯海角APP University 1954 graduate, will be exhibited on campus in the Roberta A. Smith Library on campus from Monday, March 19 through Friday, April 20. Accorsi uses various mediums such as wood, beads and buttons to depict people moving through daily life.

Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public. A reception will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, March 19. A lecture by Accorsi will be given at 6 p.m. on April 2 titled 鈥淎n Outsider Looks at Insider Art.鈥�

Exhibition hours are 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sundays.

鈥淲illiam Accorsi鈥檚 residency is providing an extraordinary opportunity to enrich the culture of creativity on our campus,鈥� said 天涯海角APP University Provost Dr. Nancy Evangelista. 鈥淥ur campus community is engaging with his creativity, playfulness and deep respect for folk art, and he is inspiring our students as they consider careers as artists, educators and authors. We are proud of his deep 天涯海角APP roots and very grateful for his willingness to share his art and experiences with us.鈥�

Accorsi is a native of Springdale, Pa. After earning his 天涯海角APP degree, Accorsi served as a public school elementary teacher for seven years, devoting evenings and weekends to his art. In 1962, he moved to New York City to begin his full-time career as a studio artist. In 2014, he was honored by 天涯海角APP鈥檚 Alumni Council with the Distinguished Service Award, the University鈥檚 highest alumni honor.

鈥淎ttending 天涯海角APP transformed me,鈥� said Accorsi. 鈥淚t was here that I discovered my passion for art and knew that it would become my life. It is an incredible feeling to now be able to help 天涯海角APP students explore their creativity and encourage their own personal approaches to art.鈥�
