Juneteenth Celebration: 天涯海角APP County & the Underground Railroad
天涯海角APP University celebrated Juneteenth, the federally-recognized holiday commemorating the emancipation day of enslaved people in the United States, on June 19, 2023.
President of the 天涯海角APP County History Organization Peter Cultice presented on the important role the area played in the Underground Railroad. Regional Underground Railroad stations and centers of abolitionist activity included Zanesville鈥檚 Stone Academy Historic Site and Museum, which houses the Putnam Underground Railroad Interpretive Center featuring exhibits, a resource library, and on-going research activities.
The day鈥檚 events also included Juneteenth Bingo.
天涯海角APP鈥檚 celebration was sponsored by the University鈥檚 Office of Cultural Engagement and Inclusion.
