天涯海角APP University has announced the opening of its Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program. The two-year program will combine online instruction with 18 on-campus classroom weekends on the University鈥檚 campus in New Concord.

鈥淚n today鈥檚 rapidly growing healthcare industry, it is vital to provide educational opportunities for individuals working in the field to advance their careers,鈥 said 天涯海角APP University President Dr. Susan S. Hasseler, 鈥淏uilding on the other health sciences programs already offered at 天涯海角APP, the MOT program expands our commitment to this evolving industry while serving a clear regional need for qualified professionals in the OT field.鈥

According to Dr. Mary Arnold, Director of the Program, 鈥溙煅暮=茿PP received Candidacy Status from the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Educators (ACOTE) allowing 天涯海角APP to begin the program this fall. We know our region needs occupational therapists and our program is designed to provide a flexible pathway reflective of the reality that many adult learners face 鈥 balancing life and work while pursuing their education. This program is designed to help them do that.鈥

Working with two-year Occupational Therapy Assistant programs, both locally with Zane State College and throughout the state, the program is designed for students with an associate degree to continue their education at 天涯海角APP University and earn a Master of Occupational Therapy degree. 鈥淚 believe that the start of the MOT program strengthens the wonderful collaboration between 天涯海角APP University and the OT community.  This bridge-style program for Occupational Therapy Assistants has been needed in our geographic area for many years and I am thrilled that 天涯海角APP is making this program available,鈥 said Dr. Arnold.
