天涯海角APP University鈥檚 Department of Nursing was recently awarded a $199,949 grant from the Ohio Board of Nursing鈥檚 Nursing Education Grant Program.

鈥淭he grant will support additional nursing lab expansion that will allow for more nursing students to be served in the program,鈥� said Dr. Cynthia Wilkins, director and chair of nursing programs at 天涯海角APP University. 鈥淎dditionally, new high-fidelity simulation equipment will be purchased that will positively impact our students鈥� laboratory experience through simulated hands-on learning as they prepare for nursing practice.鈥�

The Ohio Board of Nursing 鈥渢hrough the Nurse Education Grant Program (NEGP), awards funding to nurse education programs that partner with health care facilities, community health agencies or patient centered medical homes to increase their nursing student enrollment capacity.鈥� Grants may be used for funding clinical faculty, instructional personnel, purchasing educational equipment and other approved activities. This is the second NEGP award the University Department of Nursing has received.

天涯海角APP University offers three program tracks for nursing education 鈥� the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) for traditional prelicensure students, an accelerated BSN for individuals who already completed a non-nursing baccalaureate degree or higher, and an adult online RN to BSN track for established nurses who want to earn their BSN degree.

In 2021, the nursing program received a #1 ranking in Ohio by RNCareers.org and registerednursing.org, and a #1 rank nationally by RNCareers for its exceptional National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX) outcomes. In 2016, the program received a 10-year accreditation 鈥� the most that a program can be awarded 鈥� by meeting all four standards from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
